Picking the Best Hair Bow for the Snowpocalypse

http://babybows.com/neon-hair-bow-0125.htm
Picking just the right hair bow for your little one to wear during a major blizzard event no longer needs to be a major chore -- it's NEON to the rescue!

Knowing that the Weather Service gets it wrong as often as they get it right and that every major cable and news service will nonetheless invariably hype the event as a "Historic Calamity of Epic Proportions" doesn't mean that one can't be fashionably dressed to celebrate yet another failed prognostication.

Still, one might as well play it safe (as every so often the Weathermen actually do get it right) and what could be better than a bright and cheery neon hair bow that says "Look world!  I'm dressed up just like all the emergency service personnel!"  Fashion, of course, means paying attention to the trends  ... and if everyone outside is wearing neon safety gear, then we clearly have a trend worth following!

Not that we recommend going outdoors on such occasions -- by all means, stay inside, nice and warm and toasty.  Celebrate the Snowpocalypse as it should be celebrated... indoors, while impeccably dressed for the occasion.

After it's all over, take a moment and go build that special snowman with a carrot nose.  Enjoy those special winter moments!

A little gift goes a long way and your little ones will love all the special attention.  This year Valentine's Day falls on Saturday, and weekends are a great time to enjoy some family bonding.

Designing Hair Bows: Tips & Tricks

http://babybows.com/grosgrain-hair-bow-0454.htm
Designing hair bows for girls is certainly a challenge as fashion changes all the time.  So how do we designers keep up with the latest trends?

Some tips & tricks:

Tip #1:  Create a create relationship with your suppliers as they are the ones who are regularly introducing new items.  Ready access to great new raw materials is a major part of the battle.

Tip #2:  Attend the regular trade show venues.  Market sessions occur several times a year and one can get a collective sense of fashion direction from the myriad exhibitors at market.

Tip #3:  Pay close attention to the forecasting services... while not always completely successful prognosticators, they do get it right more often than not and can usually provide you with appropriate color palettes for the season.

An easy trick to remember:  Give away your creations... if you place your newest samples on a table with a sign that says "Take One -- It's Free!", you'll quickly see which items are taken first.  Those will likely be your fashion winners over the course of the season.

Saint Patrick's Day Hair Bow Collection

http://babybows.com/saint-patricks-day-hair-bow-0640.htm
Pleased to report that our Saint Patrick's Day hair bow collection is up for all age groups.  The group includes headbands, head wraps, salon clip pairs, barrettes, and hand-painted bows all featuring the color of magic -- emerald green.

This is a holiday that we really enjoy.  Almost every year we watch the young Irish dancers and remain in awe and absolutely astounded by their skill.  Of course the annual Parade is great and emerald green is everywhere to be seen.

Here's hoping that you have a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day and that you leave the mischief to the leprechauns!

Fantasy Pageant Hair Bows

http://babybows.com/fantasy-hair-bow-2035.htm
We're really excited about developing the "Fantasy Hair Bow" category as it gives us a chance to experiment with a variety of fun materials.  The hair bow pictured here is one such example -- a blend of iridescent curling ribbon and beads combined with sparkling chiffon and matched with a rich satin ribbon coordinated with a matching satin rosebud center.

Measuring about 4-1/4" wide, this bow is a bit of a party animal!  Perfect for under the spotlights at a gala event, a school dance or prom, this fantasy bow glistens and sparkles as it catches the light.  For those thinking "haute couture", there is the opportunity to select from dozens and dozens of satin colors to get just the right look for the next cotillion or pageant queen.

Just Chillin'

http://babybows.com/velvet-hair-bow-0064.htm
Today we made major improvements to the website -- we added large attractive pictures of hair bows to every product category (infants, toddlers, girls) and spent the rest of the day cleaning up the html code... and while this was going on, new items were being created that will be going up tomorrow morning.

A rather productive day, perhaps because the weather outside was so miserable.

Having activated Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools, we're now tracking our improvements on a day-by-day basis.  We're especially eager to track the rate at which new pages are indexed.  At the moment, the indexing is a fairly slow process, but we've learned to be patient.  As soon as a sufficient number of pages are in the Index, we'll be working on setting up the micro-data formats for the product pages.

Our primary objective is make the website as consumer-friendly as possible, so every day we're either planning or implementing new enhancements.  Suggestions are always welcome.

Hair Bow Holders

http://babybows.com/hair-bow-holder-0356.htm
We're really excited about the possibilities for this range of merchandise -- there are so many color options and design paths that can be pursued.

Our first group of hair bow holders use 34" of ribbon with a stitched station every two inches so that barrettes and headbands can easily be attached.

We began with a choice of grosgrain ribbon topped by a black/white movie reel pattern -- looks pretty good!

The ring at the top is an elastic pony tail holder that will stretch to go around a door knob, a hook, a curtain rod etc.  You can easily get a lot more than a dozen girls hair bows onto this colorful "Bow Holder".

We'd love to get design suggestions from any of our friends... shall we try pastels next?  Perhaps with a lace overlay?  Let us know.

Babybows Shop on facebook

http://babybows.com/metallic-hair-bow-2027.htm
Just finished posting all of our current items onto the Babybows Shop on facebook.

I like the photo album layout as it makes it easier to see a broad range of hair bows all at once.

Three different albums were put up:  Infant Hair Bows, Toddler Hair Bows and Girls Hair Bows.  Of course, all of them may be viewed in the main photo portal (and they each have a hyperlink back to the main babybows.com website).

As we've heard good things about pinterest, we'll try to find the time to set up an account over there as well.  We'd love to hear about your experiences with pinterest, google+, ello and other venues...

Wild Fashion

As some of you have noticed, we've been working on a collection of safari styles.  The latest group takes the classic zebra print and updates it with brilliant color.

Stayed tuned for the release of another new item -- the hair bow holder (pictured to the left).  We're working on a variety of styles and should have them ready very soon.

Perhaps we'll even do one of those free gift with purchase arrangements... we're in a good mood, so you can probably talk us into anything.

Of course, if you have anything special in mind, feel free to drop us a note anytime.  Creative minds always collaborate.  PS  You can find this style in the girls safari section and another cute version can also be found in the infant safari area.  Enjoy!

A New Beginning

style #0801
It's Springtime -- almost... a time when thoughts turn to planning the upcoming garden and getting everything ready for a glorious season.

We're inspired by new possibilities, by the thrill of properly using social media to let the world know about the beauty that's being created in this tiny corner of the fashion kingdom, in the world of kids hair bows.

So, we have re-launched the babybows.com website with a new product range, a new look and a lot of inspired designs.

While a lot of the work (that no one notices) is of the webmaster variety -- things like adding tracking codes to the pages so that we can get a better idea of what the public really likes -- we're also busy designing new product concepts and merchandise that we'll be posting here on the blog the moment that it's ready for release.
